8407 kitchen bar Ratings and Reviews
I was there with my friend and overall the place looked nice and cozy. I ordered my dinner & it took a long time to serve & once i got it unfortunately I found hair in it....they were quick enough to return it & get me another one. They gave me discount on my order which was nice....but the service was very slow overall.
When this place first opened I was its biggest fan. I feel like the quality of the food has suffered slightly but maybe that was just my steak. If I want it pre-sliced, I'm more likely to go to Medium Rare.
And I'm not entirely sure about the cowboy keyboard player and his choice of music. It was kind of like listening to someone run through their favorite hits from Grieg's piano concerto to the Girl from Ipanema. If it was an experiment, then fine. But if that's actulaly going to be your lounge music, it needs to be better curated! More 50s to go with your design vibe would be just fine.
Our greeting at the door was less than warm. The server was slow to offer us drinks. Our food (crab cakes) was pretty good.
Service honestly was no better than a low price restaurant, but we paid $36 for our main dishes. The guy who poured water had more charm than the waitress or host.
My overall first time experience here was not mediocre. When i asked if it was possible to alter an entre (change a side) i was told the chef was not willing to do so. My food was overcooked and tasteless, my partner's food was undercooked (Steak). The mashed potatoes was the best thing there (very good mashed potatoes). The atmosphere was wonderful. Pretty good service, from my waiter to all nearby waiters, everyone was very attentive.
8407 Kitchen Bar is one of our favorite go-to spots in Downtown Silver Spring (and the all-too-rare NON-chain). Good atmosphere, good food, good service and plenty of parking, not to mention super-easy access to public transportation. Highly recommend - and both lower-and upper-level bars are great for cocktails, snacks and conversation.
We've eaten here numerous times and it NEVER disappoints. The only tough thing about eating here is deciding which of the many appealing menu items to choose. When we have out of town guests and want to take them someplace we know will be good, this is our first choice.
We had a very great Mother's Day Dinner here. Everyone loved their food, and our group contained some super picky eaters. We especially loved the chicken enchiladas. They were unexpectedly delicious with a killer green sauce with a great heat to it.
We went for Mother's Day. We had reservations and they sat us right away. Downstairs decor is different than upstairs; it was a pleasant surprise. Very nice. Clean. Wonderful ambience. Window seating. Excellent service--very accommodating.
The staff were eager and happy to accommodate our last minute change for Valentine's Day. The service was pleasant, professional, and courteous. The food was delicious, especially the Crab Benedict. I recommend this restaurant & bar for any occasion.
I have lived in downtown Silver Spring for years and always wanted to try the restaurant so I planned Mother's Day lunch for my wife, me and our 3 yr old child.
The restaurant & bar are beautiful with nice design & a cozy feeling. The 2nd floor is surprising when you walk up there. The brunch menu was standard with nothing complicated. There is no true kids menu but they are flexible and you can craft one.
Our food was good but unfortunately the service was rather sub par. Our reservation was at 12:45pm and the restaurant was not full. We were placed in a booth and couldn't tell if the service was so slow because they couldn't see us. The wait staff stated that they all shared tables which may have been an issue as it took 45 minutes for them to just take our order and quite some time for orders to arrive (we did not order anything complicated.....French Toast Bacon & eggs & Steak & eggs). The $ 30 3-course menu was well priced but the service was so slow we had to request our desert (3rd course) to go. I counted 4 different wait staff we had to manually flag to check on different phases of our meal from ordering.
Suffice to say a disappointing first impression, you just can't be that slow in service especially when you have young children who are hungry are involved.
I'd been here once before for dinner and really enjoyed it. During that visit, the food and service were both great. Recently, I brought my wife and daughters for Mother's day brunch and found that things were a bit less satisfying. The food was just ok. Not bad but not any better than average. The service was also pretty slow. I wondered if this was by design as the restaurant did not seem super busy. The staff was friendly and professional . Bottom line is I would come again, but only for dinner when I think they are at their best.
Nice atmosphere. Friendly service. Food, meh. I had a enjoyable evening here with friends. In all fairness, my fiancé liked the fish tacos and my friend was pleased with the rare tuna over salad. I was disappointed with my eggplant entree. First off, I didn't know the dish was cold. Described as eggplant with tomatoes and jack cheese, I was expecting something hot, gooey and saucy. Secondly, there's nothing worse than a dish that features raw tomatoes and serves them unripened. Thick slices of barely cooked eggplant, thick slices of pale tasteless tomatoes, slightly melted Jack cheese, covered with arugula, and a hint of dressing. Bland and unimaginative, I don't know how this made it on the menu. The Key Lime pie more than made up for the mediocre food with exceptional balance of tart and sweet and a crust that is every bit as good as the creamy filling.
We are normally fans of 8407. We love the ambience and typically the whole experience package is worth it, but recently the food quality and service has been declining, while the price has shot up. Appetizers were very minimal (and basic), entree was so-so, and dessert looked like it came from a box. Prices seemed astronomical. This time round..$70+ per head. Not worth it.
We had a terrible experience for Sunday Brunch. We arrived 1/2 EARLY for our reservation. We were seated immediately. We ordered a cold appetizer and it took 45 minutes to get to our table. We spoke to the manager who told us that they were backed up with a 40 person reservation -- but the table next to us got their food faster than we did. When the food finally arrived, my order was correct but my husband's was someone else's order. It took another 20 minutes for them to bring him a grilled cheese sandwich and the cheese wasn't even melted. We finally had to leave to get to another appointment. In total we were in the restauarnt for an hour and a half with only a cold appetizer. The manager took care of the check, but it was still a terrible experience all the way around.
I was disappointed. First the pork belly appetitizer that I was eager to try was not available. I ended up getting salmon belly bites which were ok but nothing special. The duck leg was dry and not very hot but the duck breast was delicious. I didn't like the grain dish served with the dish and some of the green beans were not cooked enough. The flourless chocolate cake was very (too) rich seeming more like a truffle than a cake. It had no character and so I didn't finish it because it wasn't worth the calories. The decaf carpaccino was very good as was the cava. The service was superb and the atmosphere was very cozy and nice. Overall because I didn't find the food that great I will not return or recommend to anyone.
