This was a date night for us and we really enjoyed it., mostly,,, we were seated in a table between three families with young children who were very loud and disruptive. There were other tables but the host seemed to place a higher priority on filling in the space than in paying attention to those dynamics. We will be back but recommend making a special request in the reservation to seat away from loud parties

The menu has been expanded since the last time I was at 8407. There are several new Tex-Mex options (queso fundido, enchiladas, fajitas, etc) that I don't recall from previous visits. They still many (if not all) of the old favorites, and the quality is still very good. It's a very pleasant place for dinner, and has the bonus of being right next to the Silver Spring Metro, which makes it a good rendezvous point for friends coming from other parts of town.

I reserved a table for 11 at 8407 Kitchen Bar for my department's Appreciation Lunch - so glad I did! The service was exceptional and the food was beyond tasty. Everyone was pleased. I'm a fan and will be returning personally.

I've been to this restaurant at least 20 times, and as always, the food and drinks were very, very good. The service is usually excellent, and this time it wasn't. The waitress didn't seem to be totally present, and she forgot part of our appetizer order. However, the other wait staff was very attentive to our drinks, the ambiance was wonderful, and the changing menu keeps things interesting.

I was completely underwhelmed by 8407 Kitchen Bar. The restaurant was out of 5-6 dishes on their menu. I ordered the Filet Mignon which had no seasoning and a wine sauce that tasted awful. The dish also came with sides that weren't listed in the description. Lastly, it was the first time I've ordered charcuterie anywhere and it not come with some sort of cheese. It was just meats, bread and mustard. I wouldn't go back; the food was such a disappointment it almost ruined date night.

I used to love this place, but I won't go again. After a significant wait, we buttonholed someone to take our order, and he did so resentfully. Salad greens were wilted in both our orders. My roasted chicken was mushy. Servers seemed fully involved with one another and not interested in us. Getting the check took a long time, and paying it, another long time. This was the most inhospitable treatment I can remember anywhere, and it was not busy on the Thursday night we were there.

We had a very pleasant experience with a multi-generational group celebrating a 94th birthday. The menu is interesting and diverse. The "small plates" are generous, and plenty for light eaters. Decor is modern and attractive. Good service. The main dining room is on the upper level, there is no elevator and the rest rooms are on the main level. So, be aware if stairs are an issue. Also, parking in the public garage was plentiful, but a bit of a walk. So, drop your guests off before you park.

8407 Kitchen Bar was a great place for an impromptu date night with my husband. We made a reservation for 2 but when we arrived early, we were seated right away. Good beer and craft cocktails. I enjoyed the corn soup and steak frites. My husband liked the real nachos and the sesame crusted ahi tuna salad. The tuna melted in my mouth. It was a great experience.

Friendly waiters and nice service overall. Food took a while to come out. Two groups of customers, both seated after us, received their food before we did. Those serving us didn't explain why it took so long. Amount of food was more than expected, but makes sense because the dishes were on the pricey side.

I ordered a veggie burger. It lacked "character"; i.e., taste. It was accompanied by some lettuce and sliced tomatoes but it wasn't especially good. I ordinarily love whatever comes my way at 8407, so it was disappointing. Nevertheless, I will return.

The service was really slow - it seemed too many tables per server
No street parking but public parking around the corner (have your quarters ready as the app and qrtag registration process did not work)

Of the few bars I've been to in Silver Spring - I liked this one the best. I liked their menu of drinks and it was good for a work happy hour. It was really simple, straight-forward bar food, but we liked the couple items we chose. The Georgia Peach Tea Whiskey Cocktail was really good, just slightly too sweet for me, but good! It's a cute building and spacious, with different types of ambiance depending on which area of the restaurant you sit in.

Scallops were served poorly seared and so undercooked that they were cold inside. A companion's pork belly was so salty that it was inedible. The pasta that accompanied the very expensive scallops was a congealed mess, a big lump of pasta firmly stuck together. One of the wines on the list was unavailable. Overall a poor experience.

We really loved the atmosphere. The ambiance was great. The selection of food items was impressive. We were surprised to find a fairly empty restaurant at peak time on a Thursday night. Though after we got our food, we understood better. Our meals were just okay. I needed salt for my rice/beans under the eggplant - they were bland. My husband's tuna salad was hearty (lots of tuna) but he said the taste was nothing special. We think they ought to offer a more limited number of entrees but make them mouth-watering, crazy delicious to keep people coming in. It's a great spot and great deco - hope they stay open and do well!

What happened to the 8407 menu? At one time, they had great fresh healthy food - like a wonderful piece of fish with refined vegetables. This week-end, my fish dish arrived and looked like a mess -- too many different food items running together without refined flavor and too much starch. I hope that this was an individual instance, however I am concerned because the menu seems to have many more items than before without distinct refined flavors.

8407 is a valued resource in downtown Silver Spring despite the unimaginative name. The menu grew a great deal since we last visited, to 24-hours-a-day diner levels. The pricing increased too, unfortunately. Service was acceptable but not without several notable imperfections. What triggers this review is the shockingly unkempt state of the men's restroom. If we hadn't already eaten, we'd have left the building immediately fearing that 8407's approach to kitchen hygiene was equally sloppy.

Went to celebrate my husband's birthday with our 15 month old daughter. Meals were decently priced. Although our waitress was really friendly, the service was disappointingly slow :( the only kid friendly aspects are high chairs and kid's menu, but there are no changing tables in the restroom (plan ahead!).

I love 8407 Kitchen Bar! The food is always delicious, and I love that they've now expanded the number of non-entree options (e.g., sandwiches, fish tacos). The drink selection is wonderful, the atmosphere is always festive, and I've always enjoyed great service. I love the energy there, whether sitting downstairs in the lounge, at the upstairs bar, or at one of the dinner service tables. We're lucky to have this in Silver Spring!

The food was delicious, although some menu items were a bit pricey. My mother and grandparents loved their cocktails. The only issue we ran into was that we didn't realize that the restaurant was not handicap-friendly. We were seated on the second floor, and my grandparents have trouble with stairs. The restaurant was kind enough to let us leave through a door on the second floor, though, which my grandparents sincerely appreciated.

8407 Kitchen Bar has what it takes for a great dining experience: a very good chef. We've been to
the restaurant for dinner and brunch and were very pleased each time. The ambiance is great and the lay out very functional. The wait staff works hard to keep customers satisfied. We highly recommend the restaurant.

The start of the evening was uncomfortable; there appears to be no close parking. Around the block, there is parking, and it turns out that there is a "secret" path almost directly to the 8407, which I used when I left.
The Hostess was amiable and smiling. She told me about the path to parking. Once seated, the waitress appeared almost instantly, and she, too, was amiable and smiling. Water and bread were served quickly. After a few minutes to read the menu, the waitress re-appeared, and I placed my orders for dinner and my drink. The drink was served quickly, and it turned out to be one of the best I have had in a long time. I discussed it with the waitress, who also prepared the drink, and she expressed herself clearly and appreciatively.
The food was trout prepared in a way I had not seen, which was excellent. The vegetables were fresh and well prepared; the fish was very slightly over-cooked, but tasty; the presentation was well done.
I ordered dessert, bread pudding, which was a bit too sweet for my taste, but it wasa well prepared.
The meal was well done and memorable.
This restaurant was a personal favorite of mine for a long time however on this occasion, i was left disappointed. I had raved about this place to friends as the quality of the food and the ambiance were just exquisite. On arriving, they let us know that upstairs was closed but that we could expect the exact same menu as upstairs. I opened the menu and was really confused. The menu has changed and had seemed to have expanded somewhat. My girlfriend's meal was barely edible and she had also liked this place on the numerous previous occasions we'd been there. Something definitely has changed - either the chef, ownership or both.
It was OKAY
We went for brunch. There was no kid's menu. They offered to bring a half a portion, but we still paid full price. The shrimp and grits was VERY greasy, like a big vat of grease was poured atop the grits, and the sausage wasn't very good either, but the shrimp was cooked well. I will say that the calamari was good and the mimosa was also good. I would probably go back for a drink, but would not eat there again.
Great tuck-away location. Plenty of parking in the local public garage. This is one block from Silver Spring metro. The menu is seasonal. The service is great/friendly and the price point is about average of most places in the region. For two no wine or bar drinks, the bill was under $50. This place can get busy after 5p for happy hour.

I do not remember the name of our server, but she was simply outstanding. She made suggestions, explained how items were prepared, but most of all she did not rush us. Her warm smile just made it a delight to be serviced by her.
