8407 kitchen bar Ratings and Reviews
We like the Kitchen Bar and go there for special occasions. We had an early reservation because the normal times were booked for Valentines Day. The wait person was inexperienced but friendly and tried her best. We were rushed and had just gotten started on our appetizer when they brought our entrees. Our best experiences here have been sitting at the bar for a more casual dinner or appetizers. Don't think I'd go back for Valentines Day, and any other special day since they seem to jack the prices up and give you less options than usual.
Started with drinks at the very friendly bar staffed with seriously creative and dedicated bartenders. Lively conversations going on between other patrons. Moved upstairs to the comfortable dining room. Service remained excellent. My scallops were exceptional. Overall, great experience in an area not known for its dining offerings.
I went with my two children (13 & 10 yrs old) to meet my parents and close friend for Valentine's Day brunch. The food was good and extremely filling. I thought the flourless chocolate cake was delightful but too rich (it's supposed to be...so enjoy chocolate lovers) but collectively we agree that the crab cakes, grits, shrimp, steak, and grilled chicken sandwich were delicious. I would recommend this place.
My fourth visit to kitchen bar. Usually love the cocktails and food. Everything was good this time too. EXCEPT--our table in the back corner had a direct view into tbe kitchen. And the crabcake appetizer came to our table cold. Waitress promptly took it back to kitchen and heated it up then returned it on the exact plate . It seemed a little unusual like maybe it should have been replated or something to make it look better or like new. Other than that everything was good.
Delicious restaurant in Downtown Silver Spring near the metro. My husband and I shared the pork belly appetizer which was crispy and delicious. We each had the steak and cheese sub which was the best steak I've ever had in a sandwich! I highly recommend this restaurant. It gets busy for lunch, but we arrived at 11:30am and beat the crowd.
We went the day after Christmas for our anniversary. The upstairs dining area was less than half full and very quiet. The semi-circular sofa table made for a cozy, private feeling. The Steak Diane was delicious (tender and slightly sweet). The ribeye was average, nothing special. The portions were filling but left us room for dessert. Prices seem average for slightly upscale restaurants in the DC area. Highly recommend for a date night (though we saw several babies and young kids, so it could work for a family dinner).
GREAT service, and the food was good! The food took a while to come out, but we also had a large party. They were very accommodating. We brought in a cake, and there was a cake cutting fee, but there was a bit of a discrepancy on the pricing. Overall great experience.
Last minute choice that worked out very well. We were in Silver Spring for a family event and met two other relatives at our hotel. We'd thought that they had made dinner arrangements, but they had not. A quick Open Table search led us to 8407. It was all good. Good food, pleasant service, good beer, wine and drinks list. Reasonable value. Not a special event, super fine dining experience, but very good. I'd go back.
This used to be our go to place up to about two years ago. After major changes with the chefs, management and bartenders we stopped going. I went to see if we could make this our Christmas Eve restaurant again. I was sorely disappointed and will not be returning. I came for a late lunch and made an open table reservation. Although this was acknowledged by the hostess she originally wanted to sit me downstairs near the bar. When I reiterated I had a reservation she walked me upstairs. There were maybe three tables taken - yet it took several minutes to get water and menu and more than 10 minutes to have my order taken. I had to ask for bread and no one came by to top off water or ask about anything until right before I finished my meal. My deviled eggs which used to be great were meh as was the bolognese. I was hoping I could make this one of my neighborhood restaurants again. As I mentioned earlier I don't see us going back again.
The ambiance was nice. The food though was hit or miss. One of the two entrees was literally inedible. It was gnocci, which is largely difficult to make inedible. An appetizer we did not send back, but the flavoring was not evenly mixed so you'd have one extremely salty bite followed by a tasteless one.
