L'Auberge Chez Francois Ratings and Reviews
What can I say? The place is perfect and has been for decades. I still have no idea how their servers can be so simultaneously friendly without being overly familiar and who know just when you need something without hovering over you. The food is wonderful. Everything about it is special. I hope they last even longer than I do.
L'auberge, which has been our special treat restaurant since 1989, never disappoints. The food service and ambience is always superior. As befits a quality French restaurant the wine list is regional and deep, and there are always a number of delicious bottles in the $40 range. Exactly as you'd expect from an authentic French restaurant.
Have dined at L'Auberge since the late 1970's when it first opened. Had not been back in a number of years, but was more than pleasantly surprised by the first class cuisine, preparation and impeccable service. Dined on the patio for lunch on a Spring day and was in heaven.
L'Auberge Chez Francois was incredible as always. The filet of Dover Sole and the Filet Mignon were both great, with the typical complement of fresh vegetables. My wife's oyster appetizer was delicious as well and the souffle ended the meal perfectly. I have never had a less than excellent meal at this restaurant in 32 years.
This was probably my 20th time at Chez Francois and it was as perfect as it has always been. I have enjoyed it at all seasons, holidays and special occassions and it never disappoints. I no longer live in VA but always make a point when I visit to enjoy another experience.
Perfect Sunday lunch for four! The occasion was my mother's 89th birthday. We were seated at a quiet window table with a view to the garden. Service and attention to detail were exceptional. Our waiter made Mom feel like a queen. My filet mignon was cooked to medium-rare perfection. Everyone was pleased with their food and we tried everything from trout to duck to lamb. Then what a surprise! Mom was presented with a big beautiful chocolate/meringue/whipped cream dessert, complete with lighted candle which she blew out after we all oohed and ahh'd. Terrific, unhurried, and all-around special meal that we will all remember. We'll be back for Mom's 90th!
VERY Good as usual!!! Thoroughly enjoyed the souffles (not to be missed), the Dover Sole and Duck. Attentive service, informed and helpful somellier and very nice, unobtrusive special birthday cake acknowledgement. One of our favorite places in N. Virginia!
Absolutely the best meal we have had in years! The service was fabulous; very attentive and yet knew when to leave us to dine at our leisure. Every course including cocktails was prepared and tasted excellent. They have an extensive wine section and the wine we were recommended was a perfect companion to the meal we selected. We will return soon.
Chez Francois has been a part of our lives and special occasions for years! This time we were there to mark our 53rd anniversary and all the while, I kept musing when we would be back and whom we would invite! It's civilized dining at its best. Our waiter, Bashir, was personable, polished, and nearly invisibly attentive. Indeed, when you go to Chez Francois, you will begin to recognize the wait staff, proud professionals who've been there for years, honing their skills.
Sitting there, I thought about the occasions we'd celebrated at those tables, including sweet, significant times with family now passed.
This is one of those perfect decision icons.
As always, we thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Chez Francois. The food was delicious as always and the service was impeccable. I tried a new dessert ( lime pie) that was okay but not as good as others I've ordered n the past. Overall, it was wonderful and we will continue to celebrate special occasions there.
This was my wife and my second visit. My step daughters birthday on this visit. We love this place, best fine dinning experience in the north Virginia area by far.
Wish there was more vegetarian options as there are only three. Maybe a alternate chefs choice menu meat free?
We will be back again.
We have been dining at Chez Francois 40 years. It is reliably a special place to have authentic French food in an elegant surrounding with impeccable service. When we moved from Reston to Warrenton we made the decision to continue to visit our favorite in spite of the drive. We have never been disappointed.
My wife and I thought it was a little pricey for what they delivered. We ordered a side dish with our main course. The main course came but I had to remind the waiter about the side item which he brought a little later. While we were waiting for desert we noticed other tables getting a small portion of sherbet as a palate cleanser. We never received that. For a $250 meal they could have paid more attention to the details.
I haven't been to L'Auberge in years, but it still rates as one of the highlights of the Washington food scene. It's traditional Alcace/French, with food that melts in your mouth and is memorable. The service was appropriately laid back, allowing us to talk without having the waiter hover over us. When we left we told the waiter that we appreciated this, and he smiled and said he enjoyed watching us together (we were there for three hours!) It was well worth the $43 price fixed four course menu (with lots of choices and souffles, and included a small glass of wine).
L'Auberge Chez Francois has received very positive reviews online and from our friends. As we made plans to celebrate our wedding anniversary, we desired a unique dining experience. We specifically selected L'Auberge Chez Francois to celebrate our 7th Wedding Anniversary! Our dining experience was exquisite from the time we arrived until the time we left. The level of service we received is second to none. Our cuisine was very carefully prepared and truly delicious. We enjoyed the range of flavors in the appetizer, salad, soup, chef inspired selections, main entree and our dessert. We absolutely recommend L'Auberge Chez Francois for special occasions and discerning taste. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
L'Auberge is our favorite "special occasion" restaurant, and it never fails to deliver. The food is outstanding, and the service/ambiance one of a kind. But this time, they went above and beyond. My 86-year old father is on a pureed/soft food diet due to swallowing issues, and I thought a souffle would be just the thing for him. Easy to eat, lots of calories (he needs them), and delicious. But he's not up and about these days, and he eats promptly at six. So I asked the folks at L'Auberge if, instead of having my souffle after my 7pm dinner, I could pick it up at 6pm, take it to my dad, and come back for my 7pm dinner. They said sure. It was ready when I got there, and piping hot. I took it to my dad, and returned with the empty dish an hour later. It worked out great. What a great restaurant!
I can always count on all the folks to make a special occasion even more so, If you are a fan of Pinot Noir, I highly suggest the Pommard. We had 2 bottles and I have been looking for more ever since.
Thank you Jacques Haeringer, magnificent as always my friend.
I will be looking forward to your videos & postings on Facebook , Cheers ,
