As a first timer, we arrived 15 mins late due to traffic. (And honestly this restaurant is really out there) anyway, the host was able to accommodate us for our late arrival, thank you for doing us a favor and save us the table!
Food was fantastic, they arrive at a good pace and the complimentary chive soup and orange sorbet was a wonderful touch. Waiters and servers are very attentive and pay attention to details. The good is always fantastic, the service is superb, it's always an excellent experience. It's not a place you can go every Friday night (it's pricey) but it is excellent for special occasions or romantic outings! Kids are welcome, but they should be old enough to behave themselves and be able to enjoy an upscale meal... Not a place to bring your toddler. Anyway, I can never say enough fantastic things about this place! Year after year they have been able to maintain their very special appeal and not many restaurants can offer that diversity of cooking together with such a well rehearsed service. Our appetizers (kidneys, sea food) were excellent and so were the entrees (sole and duck breast). We rarely eat dessert but would not pass on theirs: quite a treat. A few decades ago the Auberge had top food ratings in the region. Recent reviews put it in the middle of the pack. The soft shell crab in garlic butter sauce was a highlight as was the duck, so moist and with luscious mouth-feel. A bottle of Chateauneuf-du-Pape worked well with dinner and some port with the outrageously good Grand Marnier souffle! What more does anyone want! Just a little remark, please give the souffle au grand marnier just a little more "consistence", I felt that in about 3 spoons I had finished the soft part of the souffle.

Good vine list even though I got limited advice from the maitre d'hôtel. Most impressive was the foie gras, most disappointing was the chocolate cake. From the moment you enter, you feel like you are in France at a lovely restaurant out in the countryside. We had the lunch prix fixe menu: it was full of choices from the regular menu and you get 4 courses: beverage, appetizer, entree and dessert. The food was delicious and our server guided us to some wonderful choices. The beef cheeks and the house salad were amazing. Also enjoyed the flounder special. I treated my friend to lunch for her birthday and the staff couldn't have been nicer and gone out of their way more to make her feel special. They even brought her a complimentary dessert -ice cream on a meringue with a candle. My wife and I made reservations for our 1 year wedding anniversary and was not disappointed. From the moment we arrived, Host and staff were very welcoming and not at all pretentious. The decor is of a french country home, and although proper dress is recommended, the ambiance made you feel at home. Service was at the correct pace; waiters provided beverages and bread, and allowed us ample time to relax and enjoy the atmosphere before bringing by the menus. Food and wine were amazing. We ordered the duck and lamb chops with a bottle of wine. Both were made to perfection. Salads, appetizers, and desserts were also very well made.
