L'Auberge Chez Francois Ratings and Reviews
Consistently outstanding. We've been patrons for about 20 years and go there about twice a year. After each visit, we say, "we should go here more." Ambiance (we ate in the garden) is wonderful, service impeccable, and food is great. Fixe price lunch is a great value.
We sat out side on the patio which is perfect when weather permits. One could not find a better ambience. The food and service were as good As inside the restaurant. Jacques is an excellent host and always is concerned that his guests have a great dinner. The food is authentic Alsace!
We visited L'Auberge Chez Francois for a special lunch celebrating my daughter's graduation. We had visited several times before for wedding anniversary dinners, but hadn't been there in five years. The staff was very thoughtful, and our waiter very attentive and friendly. We had a table for six, including 3 teens (our youngest is 13) and had a wonderful meal. I noted that the restaurant is kid-friendly because this was a nice experience for us all. Also, you I'll be full when you leave -- pace yourself and don't eat too much bread!
Everything you hear about L'Auberge Chez Francois is TRUE! The service, ambiance, and food are off the chart. My Dover Sole and my companion's Roast Duck were beautifully prepared and very tasty. Chef Jacques deserves a HIGH FIVE! Worth every penny...
Whenever we want to treat a friend to a fine French meal, our thought first turns to l'Auberge Chez Francois. I like to find negatives to show my review is carefully considered, but that is hard to do here. The wine list, the service, the fixed-price menu, the variety, the desserts--what can I say. Magnifique!
We dine at L'Auberge probably twice a year, given that's our budgetary limit. It is a fine place, a clear cut above most restaurants overall, in terms of cuisine, service and ambiance. We've been going there for decades now. We should have a frequent-eater card!!! It's fun and worthwhile!
Food was amazing as was the service. we went for lunch... 4 courses plus a glass of wine for $43.00 each. I had the mussels with garlic butter for an appetizer and the calf's liver for my lunch. Both were to die for. This place may be the best value for your money in all of DC. Our waiter (Eric) was very pleasant & attentive. I asked for a tour of the kitchen and they were thrilled to accommodate me. We will definitely be back on our next trip to DC.
A bit of a trip for us, but L'Auberge Chez Francoise never disappoints! The cuisine is in no way pretentious; just well prepared, using good ingredients, thus providing an experience that satisfies on several levels. It was a perfect choice for our 59th wedding anniversary.
Everything was perfect as it always is here. The ONLy thing that I would have negative to say is that we were sitting in the front room and we could hear the dot matrix printer printing. I assume it's the kitchen printer but we could definitely hear it and both commented on it. I've sat in that room on prior visits and have never heard it so maybe it was an anomaly. Chez Francois is the best value for your money in fine dining that I have ever experienced. I love it there. We are very thankful we love so close.
L'Auberge Chez Francois is an exceptional restaurant. I had lunch there twice this year and once last year. Each time the food was delicious, the service was fantastic, and the ambience was amazing. I could only marvel at the perfect preparation of each dish. The service was attentive and resulted in hot foods delivered to the table piping hot, despite the fact that we dined in the beautiful outdoor garden on a breezy day. Most recently (June 2, 2017), I enjoyed the boulliabaise for my main course, which had wonderful flavor and lots of seafood, and my husband savored his cassoulet. We shared the salmon plate and the caramelized onion/bacon tart, which were both fantastic appetizers. Our desserts consisted of a beautiful plum tart and a wonderul chocolate tart, each delicious and served with home-made ice cream. The four-course meal included a salad and a glass of wine for $43, plus a small unexpected course of cream-of-asparagus soup to begin the meal. The menu includes many choices of appetizers, main courses, and desserts for this price. I rarely leave a restaurant feeling that the meal was worth every penny, but it truly was each time I have had lunch at L'Auberge. The place is a gem!
It was perfect as always. This has long been my Mom's favorite restaurant and is a solid tradition for the two of us to go there to celebrate her birthday every year. We used to go a lot more often but lunches are easier for her now. The prix fixed lunch is a terrific value, the service is always impeccable, and the food is divine. We were lucky this year that the weather was Perfect for sitting in the garden. Thank you, as always, for the entire staff for making her birthday wonderful, yet again.
Our lunch for my husband's birthday was delightful. We invited our 17 year old son at the last minute. We wanted him to have the same experience as I did growing up. My father, who recently died at age 84, loved to bring us to your restaurant to celebrate special occasions. He wanted his three children to experience a fine dining atmosphere, from the food to the ambiance to the wait staff. I am forever grateful to him for doing this. I wish he were still here to continue enjoying this experience. Our family will continue to share our memories with you with family and friends. We look forward to dining with you again.
