  • "Delightful ambiance, service and fine food. A guest from a distant state viewed L'Auberge with fresh eyes and was totally pleased with the prix fixe selections and wines by the glass. As in past visits, the staff is welcoming, courteous, and attentive."

  • "Really enjoyed our first visit to L'Auberge Chez Francois. We had the Prix Fixe. Bread was great as was the salmon 3ways appetizer, the trout and the steak entrees. Soufflé desserts were terrific. Can't wait to go back and try a la carte."

  • "The dinner was delicious, the service was outstanding and the ambiance was perfect. There is nothing that I would change to make this meal any better. It was truly perfection!"

  • "This is special place to go for a special occasion. The staff makes one feel special and the food is better than you will find anywhere. It is truly an unforgettable experience."

  • "We came to celebrate a special birthday. We had not been here in many years, and everything was as wonderful as we remembered. The service was excellent as was the food and ambience. We felt welcome from the moment we walked in the door."

  • "My husband and I have been going to LAuberge Chez Francois since the 1980s. The menu and preparation is spectacular and even though we are in her 70s and have to drive 50+ miles to get there from Annapolis we have made it a monthly must do. We have always had excellent service from our favorite waiter Freddy and the whole staff. All in all excellent place for lunch or dinner"

  • "Chez Francois is not the place to go for cutting edge cooking or the newest fad. But if you want exquisitely prepared classic French/Alsatian food with impeccable service, come here!! The meal is paced leisurely so perfect for "sobremesas"--the Spanish phrase for conversation around the table. Lunch value is superb!!"

  • "We had a lovely Anniversary Dinner at this charming country inn. Very romantic with a rustic and rural flavor. Our waiter described each menu choice in detail as if he was going to prepare it, he even spoke French (my second language). I will return to the L'Auberge again to experience the friendly service and good food."

  • "Great special occaision spot, fit for anniversaries and the like (Not a first date spot unless you have coin to burn!) Food is excellent, service is very timely (always there as soon as a need presents itself). Will return if I need another candlelight rom spot!"

  • "We try to get here once every year or two for special occasions. Never disappointed. Sunday lunch is a bargain--basically the same price-fixe 5 course menu they have for dinner at about $42-$44 per person."

  • "This was my first dining experience at Chez Francois. The occasion was to celebrate a friend's birthday. We felt welcome from the moment we walked in. We chose the set menu and embarked on a leisurely, absolutely delicious 2 hour holiday. The atmosphere and ambiance at l'Auberge is relaxing and elegant. The food is beautifully prepared and presented. The five star rating is completely deserved!"

  • "Fabulous dinng. And great value for the money!! I would recommend Chez Francouse to everyone I know!! We have been dining with them when they were in DC. it only gets better."

  • "Although still a very special experience with both wonderful ambiance and very good food, the restaurant seems to have slipped a bit. The food, while good, was not as outstanding as I remember it from previous visits and the service, while also very good, was not as flawless as I recall it being."

  • "an absolutely exquisite dining experience with superb service"

  • "We brought out of town family and had a wonderful lunch. We all got something different from the menu and shared. Each dish was unique and tasty - nothing left on any of our plates at the end of the meal. Service was friendly and efficient. We were talking and stayed a little late - we never felt rushed. My personal favorite was the 3 salmons and veal - everyone agreed that mine was the best (and I still had to share!!). Our recommended wine was outstanding. Desserts were perfect. This is a great place to bring family and friends for any special occasion or when you want something out of the ordinary. Thank you again for a great lunch."

  • "My wife had never heard of this place but wanted to surprise her with something I knew she would love. It's hard to get my Wife good food out because she cooks so well herself. This place is fancy and very easy to enjoy."

  • "The wine, dinner and dessert were exceptional as usual. The service was flawless and the friendly atmosphere makes you feel relaxed and comfortable. They have added a Châteauneuf-du-Pape to the list of wines by the glass. The béarnaise was light and perfect. Although the gâteau au fromage maison was recommended, and it was superb, the tarte au chocolat was worthy of the gods. Excellent overall. It is amazing how they have kept their standards so high for so long."

  • "My wife and I decided to come here as a date night; we were greeted with a smile and seated promptly. Our waiter explained the 5-course prix fixe very well and was extremely friendly and personable. He was also quite knowledgable about the meals as we do a lot of cooking at home and was curious about some of the ingredients in the dishes;he didn't hesitate to tell us what they were. My wife realized that tarragon that was bothering her palate. Her main dish came out and was loaded with it. She didn't want to make a scene, but she didn't need to. One of the staff noticed that she wasn't enjoying the dish and quickly came over and worked out a solution. One of the best overall dining experiences we have had; we will definitely be returning."

  • "This about my 15th or so dining experience at L'Auberge. As will every other time, everything was marvelous. I also dined with three people who had never been there before, and their reaction was amazing. I will definitely continue to go to L'Auberge, and I'm sure, will have a wonderful experience."

  • "I last went to Chez Francois in November, 1967, and had been working on a way to return ever since. Even though the restaurant cancelled our reservation and did not notify us, we were still seated. The service was attentive and informal. The food selections, including delectable veal kidneys, were wide ranging and well done. To top it off we got a very nice tour of the place. We'll be back."

  • "L'Auberge Chez Francois is a well known gem in the suburbs of DC that just happens to be close to my home in Reston, VA (it's actually in Great Falls just 4-5 miles away). So when I wanted to go somewhere special to celebrate my birthday, it was a great spot for a wonderful meal without dealing with DC traffic. that said, the food is well worth a drive if one is required. The menu choice was sufficient, the service perfect and the food was amazing! I had a lovely birthday lunch."

  • "This has been one of my favorite restaurants since it was located downtown. It may actually be my favorite restaurant. I love the warmth and coziness of the space. I enjoy the different courses and the timing of the service. My favorite menu is an apple and roquefort starter, sweetbreads, followed by plum tarte with homemade cinnamon ice cream. From time to time, I do try other items, but often default to this menu because, as far as I know, it's the only restaurant in the area serving these dishes. Chez Francois is always a treat. The food is special and the service is professional, but friendly and knowledgeable."

  • "We spent a leisurely two hours having the Sunday brunch menu and it was a good as we had hoped! Service was perfectly timed throughout the entire meal. The food lived up to our expectations and was inspiring -- we want to try and re-create some of the dishes at home. The amuse bouches and little touches made us feel special. Definitely will be going back again soon."

  • "Visited with my wife and three adult sons for her birthday. Found it to again be the perfect spot for a special high end dinner. Good food, good ambiance, good table and good service. Far more friendly and affordable that "The Inn at......" which is easily 3X the cost."

  • "Delicious food. Considering 6 courses of several selections, there're hundreds of combinations one could order. Pricey, but food quality and quantity are worth it. Service is friendly and most attentive."

  • "I am always delighted when I return to this restaurant to see that it continues to maintains its high standards. I usually go here with guests for a special occasion and it lives up to my expectations."

  • "Our service was extraordinary - very warm, gracious and attentive without being intrusive or overbearing. The meal was delightful. My wife had the duck breast and chose the escargot (which were exactly how she wanted them) as the appetizer, I had the hunter's duo of a deer chop and wild quail with sauteed veal kidneys for my hors d'oeuvre. The chop was good, a little past medium for me, the rest of the dish was an enjoyable and colorful palate, proportioned correctly, with a great variety of textures and tastes. We did over indulge by having dessert - my wife chose the raspberry souffle (to be ordered at the beginning of the meal) and I had the plum torte plus coffee. It was a fine and sumptuous repast, now back to the diet."

  • "Always the go-to -place for a special occasion or if you want to treat yourself to a perfect meal. Between the calming ambiance, superb service and magnificent menu there is nothing to do but sit down and enjoy the very best of everything."

  • "This is an amazing restaurant, with an unbelievably trained staff. The food is incredible, and the wine list is perfectly matched. From the moment you walk into the restaurant you know you're in for something special, and are treated as though you are the most important guest in the room. I will be returning as often as I can."
