We enjoyed a wonderful meal with a lovely wine recommended by the young sommelier. We had one vegetarian in our party who was very pleased with a plate composed for him by the chef. The one error in serving a port was corrected immediately and generously. My companions had fun composing a cheese plate and enjoyed it very much. Servers are very knowledgeable and helpful. Overall, it was a great meal and I was pleased to take my NYC friends and a nephew from LA, who all know something about food, to a fine, but relaxed, restaurant each said they would be very pleased to return to.

Ripple had become tired but always had a great wine list so we returned. To our surprise: new chef, new menu, and a clearly superior food experience. Kudos to the new team: keep it up! We will be back next time with friends in tow.

I have been to Ripple many times and always left happy but this time it was a big disappointment. The Chef has changed and so has the food. It is not as good as it used to be.
The dishes we tried were just too busy with far too many flavors. Nothing like the subtle and delicious taste that we were used to with the previous Chef.
We tried four different dishes and none of them was of our liking. The mix of fish and coffee or rabbit with cinnamon pecans, pesto and raisins just didn´t work for us. The service was also over crowded. There were too many people running around us what made the whole experience a bit overwhelming. If I am paying $$$ for my meal, I expect to have something better than this.

The resataurant is convenient if you are seeing a movie across the street. There is a tasting menu or you can just order off the menu. The menu is difficult to figure out -- not user friendly or fun to decode -- just annoying, especially if you are hungry. Food pretty good but overpriced and small portions. Felt a little shocked by the check and I done out quite a bit.

First time eating there. Apparently has a new chef since December 2016. Meal and service (thank you Kristin) were incredible. My wife and I each had their 4 course tasting menu but were able to choose the small plates we each desired. Would go back in a minute!

My group has brunched a Ripple many times and we knew the chef was new, but we were extremely disappointed by the new brunch menu. It was very limited, more expensive for the quantity, and some old (and delicious) favorites we're missing, most notably the Codester and the Hash. I heard several other tables of regulars sharing similar disappointment. Also, the service was not as good as usual. Hope they can turn this around. For now, I miss the old Ripple.

New chef equals new menu. Fine but this is a very heavy meat menu. 1 Entree is seafood, scallops, and no main vegetarian dish. This restaurant used to have a nice variety but no more. And the prices went up. Food was ok but certainly not great for the price. Also, menu descriptions are not clear on how the dish is presented or how large. We had to ask what some items were and then when the dish arrived there were things on the plate that weren't on the menu description. Another table was confused on some of their items as well.
The service, however, was horrible. Reservation at 6:45 for 4, left at 9:15 for 5 small plates, one entree and one dessert. All the apps came out at once and then we were left alone until just about everything was gone. No check on how things were going. We had to ask on the status of our entree and the waitress said she didn't think we had agreed on ordering that so she didn't put it in. Not sure why since it was on the list of things we ordered and so we now had to wait for that. Then she asked if we wanted another round of wine, we said yes but she only brought one person wine. We had to get another server to get the other glasses. Finally got the check and another 10 or 15 minutes went by so one of us got up walked over to her and handed it to her so we could pay and get the hell out of there. It was really an unbelievable meal. My wife and I have eaten here a few times over the past couple of years and this was hugely disappointing. Have absolutely no desire to return.

Great food and a nice place for a fancy dinner without too much pretense (just the right amount). But the $$ is NOT ACCURATE. Just be prepared, this is squarely a $$$ restaurant. It's worth it, I just don't want you to be surprised like my and my wife were.

We went to Ripple on a whim on a quiet weekday night in early January. We hadn't been there in over a year. There is a new chef, and he is off to a very promising start. Very inventive, flavorful dishes, with an interesting approach of using a single ingredient in many ways (such as tuna tartare with five different types of lime preparation). Our server was terrific and very helpful. The wine, mixed drinks and beer options remain eclectic and interesting. We will come back again, and it won't take a year.

Great birthday dinner at Ripple. We both had the scallops - amazingly tasty and generous portion. The ambrosia for dessert was unusual and delicious. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Overall a great experience. We'll be back.

Excited for the new chef. tasting menu was quite an experience. It read beautifully and the flavors, plating were right on. Dessert was a week note. Staff was definitely attentive, but seemed a bit new to the menu and the revised experience. I'm sure that will all come together over time. Wine pairing was well done.

Absolutely amazing! My husband and I were in town for the holidays and this place was recommended by a friend. The food was great, we didn't feel hungry or over full when we left, we weren't rushed and our server even helped us pair wines by the glass to our food/course. Next time we're in DC, we'll come back here for sure.

After reading all of the reviews and it being listed as a top 100 restaurant we were looking forward to this experience as our holiday dinner. I suppose they were having an off night but overall we did not enjoy our experience. It took almost an hour to receive three appetizers - two cold and one hot. And the hot appetizer came out cold! They did remove the item from our bill but the waitress had hyped it up as one of their best dishes. It had good flavor but needed to be hot. We would have rather they brought out a hot one for us to eat. The main courses - fish, scallops and steak were just ok. Overall a complete disappointment, especially for the price point and reputation. We will not be back and do not recommend.

I was actually very disappointed that their rotating menu does not have many options for vegetarians. I went, very excited to try the crab cakes benedoct, only to find it wasn't on the menu, and had been replaced with a vegetarian Bennie that was very sparse. No way was it supports substantial! Then I find out they don't carry avocado. Really?!?! That was incredibly disappointing!! Everything else in the menu seemed bland, or was using meat to replace actual flavor. Truly not what I was expecting. Our waiter was also visibly displeased by our questions about the menu, and obviously was not well versed I'm vegetarian fare. He was also not very pleasant. I hope he was just having a bad dau, because he really didn't seem happy to be there and I almost felt like I was intruding. I guess I'm glad it wasn't over priced, and drinks were on special.

Wonderful! Quiet seating, just as we requested, excellent and imaginative food [wahoo+pork belly+NZ cockle], friendly and totally informed server who did not rush us. Not my first visit, and I intend to return more often.

My wife and I enjoyed our 38th wedding anniversary here. The food was very good. The service was first rate. She is lactose intolerant. I had let them know at the time of our reservation. When we arrived, there was a special menu for her, with each item reviewed by the chef as okay or not for her, sometimes with notes about how the dish could be modified for her. Really nice. My only negative would be the noise level, which made it difficult to speak at a normal level and be heard.

Food was not worth the costs. My partner's New York strip was two small end pieces with a bland polenta. The potato gnocchi was good but again, you have to order the entree portion which is still quite small and not worth the cost. The only good things were the service, the bread, and the charcuterie.

The appetizers and entrees were unusual, tasty, and beautifully presented. The sheep cheese plate at meal's end, suggested by our waiter, wonderful. It was an exceptional meal ... but a little wee bit expensive. Nonetheless, my wife and I will make a point of returning to Ripple on our next visit to DC. Truly memorable.

We had a great time sitting in the front window, having a business dinner. Service was beyond wonderful. Loved the house olives and the focaccia. Entrees were both unique and delicious. The halibut was the hit of the night. House made ice creams and sorbets were a huge hit too. Best thing going in this neck of the city.

What an amazing meal! From the cocktails with the cheese board, to the salad and the entree every bit of our food was amazing. I had the pork which was delicious, savory, succulent and flavorful.
Our waiter did an excellent job of pacing the meal and she was attentive without being intrusive.

Fun night with ups and downs in the food. Love Ripple and have been there many times. Service was attentive and not too rushed. Food was a bit spotty. Cocktails were delicious and unusual. Appetizers (prosciutto fritters...beet salad) were fantastic. Entrees (swordfish, pork belly) tended to be quite salty, so the flavors were masked. Side dish (wild mushrooms) was very tasty. Wine list was great and we enjoyed the sommelier suggestion.
We still enjoyed ourselves but for the cost, would have hoped every item would have been delicious.
