Ripple Ratings and Reviews
Great for a Date Night
The entire experience from the food to the service was excellent!
This was simply excellent from top to bottom.
Four of us went for dinner, and we ordered probably 8 or 9 items on the menu to share, mostly starters but one entree as well. Everything was tremendous. Highlights include the duck, the tuna + umi, the barrata, and the yogurt dessert. Marvelous. Welcoming atmosphere and my only complaint is that it might have been just a little loud. We were thankfully in the front room which is smaller and quieter than the main room or bar area, so we didn't have any problems talking. Service was great, drinks were nice, the staff was warm. Overall this is a grand slam.
Ripple's a Gem!
We enjoyed a Sundsy evening business dinner here. The staff was outstanding - knowledgeable, patient when answering questions, with excellent customer service skills. The wine list was fantastic, and more importantly the staff was thoroughly knowledgeable about the wine list. Wine was served as requested (a rarity in the best places). Good was delicious and creatively presented. Don't forget dessert...well worth the calories!
Great brunch, definitely going back!!
I went with two other friends for brunch and it was delicious. THey have 4 different flavors of mimosa (raspberry was best) and they keep your glass full (bottomless!) The price was very reasonable for the amount of food you get. I will definitely be going back for brunch and to try the grilled cheese bar at dinner!!
A gem on the outskirts of central DC
Went here on a recommendation and was not disappointed -- fantastic food, service, service, service, did I say service? We're going back and the wine list is killer and great value (go for the Guild).

Delicious food in a neighborhood restaurant
Ripple just keeps getting better and better. The menu is filled with creative items with lots of vegetables either as main or additional ingredients. Accent here is on creative with few, if any, commonly found dishes. But we find them delicious. The dishes, while not tiny, aren't overly large either. If one is feeling hungry, it is possible to have appetizers, pasta, and mains. Desserts are excellent so same room. The white list is very good and the sommelier does some terrific pairings. 3 ounce glasses of wine are available so that one can sample different wines. Service is friendly and professional.

My favorite restaurant in DC! Food, service, atmosphere - all outstanding.
Incredible food and outstanding service
Food was so delicious and our server, Kristin was incredible. She walked us through the whole menu in the most entertaining and informative manner. Food did not disappoint and they have a very impressive wine, beer and cider list.
Out of This World
I have been to Ripple twice, and it has not disappointed. The menu always has so many amazing dishes that the only problem I have is that I want to order everything.
This was a great find!

Brunch at Ripple
The brunch was moderately good at Ripple. I had the eggs benedict and it was fairly good; however, the home fries on the side were extremely undercook which took away from the overall meal. My friend had the meal that consisted of a biscuit, fried chicken, and gravy, and explained that she loved it. Although I did not participate in the bottomless brunch special, the value was fairly good as their mimosas were essentially champagne with a splash of a fruit juice. I would not necessarily go back here as there are so many other notable brunch places in DC; however, I would recommend it to people looking for a cute brunch place to go with friends.
We went for brunch and loved every minute of it! Definitely recommended!
Sampled Ripple for Anniversary
Big Top Chef fans, we were excited to try Ripple for our upcoming anniversary. Little did we know it would be so tough to get a table, we had to eat at 5:00pm. We were the only ones in the restaurant and though the food was tasty, it was quite awkward. Would only go back if we could get a decent timed reservation.
Have been back several times. Great little restaurant.
We wanted to try a new restaurant outside our area in Montgomery County. I looked up restaurants & reviews for restaurants in upper northwest D.C. Ripple stood out. We enjoyed our brunch. The decor was pleasant & colorful. We would happily come back. The main drawback is lack of parking. It took 15-20 minutes to find a spot. We walked off the calories we consumed on out trek back to our car !

Very enjoyable meal. Some homeruns; the fluke crudo, the spring garlic soup and the scallops and roasted cauliflower entrée. Good service. Decent value.

We had a slow start at the bar, didn't get drinks for about 20 minutes, after that it was a great experience. The drinks, food, and staff are wonderful and I would highly recommend Ripple for anytime and special occasion meals.
Great Special Occasion Restuarant
The free baked bread was delicious. The appetizers and main courses were thoughtfully prepared. The service was excellent. Cleveland Park is a very nice neighborhood. Overall, this is a great restaurant for a special occasion, as it is slightly expensive.
As fans of the show Top Chef, we were thrilled to be able to meet Marjorie, owner of Ripple and Top Chef contestant. The entire meal was amazing from start to finish!
Fit for Foodies
If you are looking for imaginative seasonal cooking, great wine list and "the cheese course", this restaurant will not disappoint. Service is friendly and relaxed. There is a bit of a mediterranean influence to the dishes created by this award winning chef but not in the predictable ways. I will definitely be back to this restaurant - very sweet atmosphere and unique cuisine.
Great date spot
Love the menu, service and vibe here! Quickly becoming a favorite date spot!
Ok but not amazing
The food was ok but not amazing. The portions were definitely too small and overall not great value for money. My choice for ripple was initially the perceived ambiance (but changed my mind as soon as I got there. My friend still wanted to go in, so we s till had dinner there. The service was fine but not particularly attentive. All is all, nothing major to report either way. It was ok but I wouldn't recommend it or go back again given the choices in DC.

Prior to our dinner reservation, we had a French onion and bacon grilled cheese that was decadent and effortless to eat with a bottle of wine; by far the best part of the dining experience. For dessert, the chocolate chip cookies were as fresh and gooey as could be; ideal on a cooler March evening. Dinner was OK. The spaghetti with poached tuna could have been a little warmer with less salt. The duck breast was lukewarm and tough to cut. The overall taste of the dinner dishes still made the experience enjoyable. We just need a little more heat. Overall, we look forward to trying Ripple again, but may stick to the grilled cheese bar and great drinks.
One of my farm to table favorites
For those of us who live in the Woodley / Cleveland park area, having Ripple in the neighborhood is so nice for special occasions -- or just when you need a really good meal. It's quiet, great atmosphere, delicious food fit for any Paris bistro, and the wait staff are consistently helpful and friendly. We befriended our waiter last time and he gave us a surprise (a little extra course, on the house) and those nice gestures -- along with the quality of the food, of course -- make it a special place.
I'm just saying - YUM!
We heard about the second James Beard nomination for Marjorie and went for it. Our server, Kristen, was very informative and fully enhanced our dining experience. Her explanations of how food is prepared and the best dishes were great. I usually don't drink wine because it always makes me miserable. When we found out all of the wines were sustainable I gave a red California wine a try (I never do this anymore) and had no problems. Their cocktail list is very creative and one of the best in the area. Cocktails are important to us and we were very pleased. The burette was amazing - I wish I could duplicate it at home. The blend of flavors was amazing and I would never have thought to mix those ingredients. The duck, ravioli, and bone marrow were awesome. They even made some cheesy pasta for our son - he loved it. We will be going back since we fully regret taking so long to get there.
Good food, terrible service
15 minutes to get a drink order. Wait staff in flannel shirts and pants falling down showing boxers and backside. I felt like an interloper at a skatepark. Our food didn't come out together. We were constantly asking for a fork or a knife. My espresso came out without a spoon, lemon twist, or even a sugar bowl. And it was LOUD!
Creativity at its best
Marjorie hits it out of he park! Everyone always makes fun of the chefs on Top Chef who make crudos, but her hamachi crudo was stellar! The duck was perfectly cooked and paired with such interesting flavors. The serving sizes were perfect, the wine list large, and the service was impeccable. One can really tell that the servers stand behind chef and her food!

Terrific dining experience! The chef prepared our dishes beautifully and we look forward to going back for another wonderful dinner.
Excellent food, fresh quality, great atmosphere
I'd seen Marjorie on Top Chef and had been wanting to try Ripple for a bit. The environment is friendly and unassuming, filled with bright colors but not overdone. Both food and service were exceptional . Our server was extremely knowledgeable on wines and was able to make us excellent recommendations. We had the lamb, duck, and dorade, with salad, house-cut fries, and then the cobbler and cookies. Could taste how fresh everything was, and the cookies were baked on the spot and fresh out of the oven. A definite recommendation!

The highs on the menu were really, really high. One thing was disappointing, but first, the highs: the hamachi crudo and the spaghetti with olive poached tuna were amazing -- among the best things we've ever eaten. The New York strip and all the accompanying vegetables were also fantastic. It would be worth going just for those things! Also a fantastic selection of cheeses (with crazy good apple butter (?) and honey) and wine. The disappointing dish was the dorade, which should be a fairly light tasting Mediterranean fish which, instead, tasting really strong and fishy (sort of like mackerel). We eat a lot of fish, and usually love it. That was too bad because the puttanesca sauce that the fish came in was absolutely fantastic. I wouldn't let one bad dish keep me from coming back but I'm not sure I'd try the fish again.

The food is excellent. The duck was amazing. Every time we've been there it had been fantastic, especially at the price point.
We choose Ripple to use our $100 Open Table coupon because the food & service has always been excellent in the past and we were not disappointed. Our server was attentive & informative, giving us good advice on our wine selection without trying to nudge us to a higher price point. Our appetizers--the burrata & the sunchoke veloute, were excellent & interestingly different and our entrees--duck breast & rabbit "4 ways"--were equally engaging. Convenience, dependably wonderful food, a lively but not oppressively dinning atmosphere: what more could you want?
Less stellar than last time
The food was good, but the service a little off, on our recent visit to Ripple. It took a really long time to get the olives that we ordered with our drinks (the waiter said they were "being prepared" (?) when we asked about them). So it ended up that we had the olives with our first courses, and then when we took our time with them, I could tell they were holding the main courses. Sure enough, mine came out lukewarm. So the food was tasty, but the pace was all off. In addition, the wine prices here, especially by the glass, are kind of high. Is it really impossible to find more than one biodynamic white wine that can be had for less than $15 a glass?

From beginning to end, this experience was excellent. We ordered all the snacks (deviled eggs, pickled veggies, bacon pecan, marinated olives). All were delicious. For apps, we had the hamachi crisp, veal tartare, bursts, and the greens salad. Again, perfectly seasoned. Next, we had the bone marrow, venison and veal ravioli, and the tuna spaghetti. For entrees, we had the pork, duck breast, dorado, and rabbit. Everything came out perfect. We have never had a more satisfying meal. Nothing disappointed. Kudos to the chef for a great menu and great execution. We will be back!!

I love this place. Great food, impeccable wine list and top notch service. Last night was my 3rd time dining at Ripple and I was particularly impressed with our server Ari. We were seated next to a needy table and he handled their needs and the needs of his other tables beautifully. The chocolate chip cookies for desert are not to be missed.
Pricey, Good Ambiance
restaurant has a great atmosphere and excellent service, which almost makes up for the price. I found that the drinks were a little pricey for the location/neighborhood, and the appetizer offerings were a little sparse. The charcuterie board was excellent. New bartender was our server and was wonderful and very helpful and engaging.
We were on top of the tables next to us. In the back. The very back. Like the last table in the restaurant back. Next to a table of very loud, very talkative 20-somethings. I don't blame them--they are entitled to enjoy themselves. But there was another part of the restaurant that looked quieter. There was only one vegetarian option--a vegetable pot pie with the richest bechamel sauce ever. I might have given this a better review but we ended the meal with an apple cobbler. It tasted of cloying pie filling. Ugh. I have never regretted a $300+ meal more in my life (we ordered a $180 bottle of wine--should have been an indication to staff that they put us in the wrong seat). We had such high hopes. sigh. The sommelier was terrific, fwiw. But the wines truly are incredible pricey.
