Diner Reviews
  • "Ripple lives up to its advertising: the food was seasonal, elegantly prepared, and appropriately portioned. Service was professional and attentive. The only downside is the cost. All the inspired menu, sustainable/local food, and outstanding wines and beers comes at a pretty high price. The value proposition was high, but most won't be eating here everyday."

  • "Came here to have a mid-week date with my wife, and it was perfect. We ran a touch late for our reservation, but they sat us without hesitation. Service was prompt, but never hurried. Server made great suggestions. Wine was good. Food was great. I had the melon salad for an app, which was light and flavorful. My wife had the chilled corn soup with crab. That was amazing! I took a bite of it and wished I could steal it from her. For entrees I had the steak with corn pudding and fried green tomatoes. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the side items were flavorful. She had the hand made spaghetti with tuna. It was good and had a nice spice. Overall a great meal. Price was great, too. About $100 for both of us."

  • "My girlfriends and I were looking for a bunch spot with brunch classics, was reasonably priced, and gave us the option to have a mimosa two. Ripple proved to be a great source. Got the brunch deal which included a pastry, entree, and bottomless mimosas for $28 dollars. All the food we had was great, and the mimosa options we delish (blood orange, orange juice, grapefruit juice). They were also very accommodating with dietary restrictions- one of my friends was gluten free and they brought her a fruit bowl instead of a pastry."

  • "Met another couple for Saturday dinner at Ripple. We started at the bar and enjoyed some lovely red wine. Sat down for dinner and really enjoyed the homemade and fresh corn bread. We did not order starters, but our mains included duck breast, monkfish and two small plates (chilled crab soup and heirloom tomatoes with ricotta, cashews and peaches). We then shared some cheeses, which were totally disappointing! Not because of taste but because you pay $5 for two teeny tiny slices of cheese! Ridiculous. We paid over $30 for the most pathetic cheese plate, not cool. Everything else was good."

  • "Ripple was a great place to dine for a birthday. Overall the food had really interesting flavors and was delicious, though occasionally wasn't as flavorful as you might expect. The highlight of the meal was absolutely the bacon-infused bone marrow. Despite it being an appetizer, the meal could have ended with that and, though I wouldn't have been full, I would have been extremely satisfied."

  • "Great, as always. Terrific food. Really, really good. Attentive, friendly service. Vibrant atmosphere. Good friends. What could be better?"

  • "The food was delicious and the staff was friendly and knowledgable. We had the pork, and the fish both of which were cooked perfectly. The desserts were to die for!"

  • "Excellent service and everything on the menu is exquisite. You can TRUST this place will satisfy."

  • "Our group of four savored just about everything we ordered. The appetizers really shone -- especially the smoked eggplant agnolotti and the heirloom tomato salad. And Ripple's baguettes and corn bread are first rate -- something all too rare in even the so-called best restaurants."

  • "Had an amazing time at Ripple! Lived in the area for three years but had never tried it out before. I loved that their menu changed daily, and their Gnocchi was sensational. Also their wine list was extremely reasonable, and very extensive."

  • "This was our first time here (dinner), and we absolutely fell in love! Ripple was recommended by a chef friend of ours, and we're so glad we came! The food is fresh, full of flavor & delicious, our server, Richard, was very pleasant, helped us with our selections, and added to our great experience!"

  • "Great meal and excellent service - will be back for dinner again. Cheese grits were amazing."

  • "Excited to finally try Ripple but disappointed. Noise level in the bar was extremely loud for 7:00 PM but we secured a quiet table in the dining room. However, after an hour noise in the dining room necessitated repeating every other word. We shared a pasta appetizer, which was delivered without any description--almost thrown on the table. Agnolotti appetizer consisted of flat green objects with a few parmesan curls. Initially, we thought it was an amuse bouche. Tepid and nearly tasteless. Having ordered the infamous "roasted and fried chicken" I was willing to splurge for the calories. Again, the temperature of the food decreased the experience and the fried chicken was over-fried to beyond "crunchy." Might return for drinks."

  • "The strip steak was melt in your mouth delicious. The biggest surprise was the vegetarian selection-stuffed squash-unbelievable!"

  • "We've been here about 6 times and the restaurant continues to deliver terrific food in a fun and casual atmosphere. We tend to order 2-3 dishes plus dessert. The one thing is I have never had a meal where every dish hits. I also have never had a meal where at least one dish blew me away. This past Sat the chilled cauliflower soup w crab was an A+. The rockfish main was only okay. The bread pudding was amazing. The agnolotti was okay, but the worst pasta dish I have had here. The bar is high though as the pasta dishes have typically been terrific. The salads and fresh foods are what really set the restaurant apart. We will be back."

  • "My husband joined me on a business trip and found this place. It was SOOOOOO cute! I would definitely come back the next time I am in town. While they have great meat dishes (my hubby destroyed the lamb) they had a lot of vegetarian options that were creative and delicious! And they have incredible wines! This place is worth the trip if you are staying in National Harbor. Thanks so much for a great evening."

  • "The food was really good. I enjoyed every bite, apps through dessert. The restaurant is very loud so we were grateful that we dined on the late side and that it gradually quieted down. Service was initially prompt but got slower as the evening progressed. Although the iced tea was delicious we thought $4.00 a galss was a bit much. I thought there was good value for the prices of the food and the alcoholic drinks were about what I expected."

  • "Living in Cleveland Park, I am fortunate to have this restaurant in the neighborhood. Everything is well thought out here, from the ambience to the menu. The beer and wine list is exciting as well. And as for the food, they do fresh and local sourced ingredients proud. Each time I dine here, I find something new to try and have yet to be disappointed. They cook seafood perfectly and there are always great vegetarian selections along side the meats and not as an afterthought. All in all, Ripple is rewarding."

  • "Great night out with the girls food and wine met high expectations"

  • "We loved our first visit to Ripple. The website boasted fresh, locally-sourced ingredients and our palates agreed that it was all of the above. We loved everything from the crackers made in-house with farm butter and the cheese appetizers we ordered (goat, sheep and cow cheeses) to the main courses of lamb, roasted chicken, and bone marrow. Fine, fresh dining at its best!"

  • "Too expensive for everyday, but a treat for a reunion or celebration. The desserts are particularly outstanding (and I usually can skip dessert with no regrets). The main menu, though, is not very vegetarian friendly. I put together a meal consisting of a salad and two sides but wish I had had more options."

  • "The peach/tomato/ricotta salad was ok - nothing special. The spaghetti app was really awful. We arrived at 7:30 for drinks because we could only get an 8:45 reservation and although I asked I was pretty surprised that they didn't seat us until a few mins past 8:45. They didn't offer bread unless you asked which seems pretty chincy. I had been there before and was hoping it would wow my 2 friends but it really didn't. Main dish (and other) portions were quite tiny."

  • "Ripple is easily one of the best restaurants in the area. I've tried many in the DC area over the past 20+ years and many others in cities around the world, and the meal I had at Ripple the other evening was on par with the best restaurants I've visited. The food and wine are the real standouts. The appetizers, side dishes, and entrees were beautifully presented, unique, and great tasting. The atmosphere is the only weakness we experienced. The dining room is a little cramped, and with a full crowd, the noise levels can get a bit high. I'm looking forward to going back soon."

  • "The last time my spouse and I ate at Ripple was when it first opened maybe 5 or 6 years ago. The food was good, but very expensive, and we were underwhelmed. But with a new chef, we figured we'd try again. We didn't have much - we came in around 9:30 after a movie at the Uptown, but what we had was excellent. The place is still pricey - $15 for a glass of rose champagne? Really? And some wine glasses were $20! Two appetizers, two drinks and a shared dessert cost $70. But we'll come again and have entrees, even if this won't become a regular place for us because of the cost."

  • "While the food combinations and descriptions on Ripple's menu can come across as a bit pretentious, every offering was delicious and beautiful. The service was also friendly, helpful and relaxed. There are no bargains at Ripple, but for a special occasion it's a delight."

  • "Creative creations, quality product, great service. My only constructive criticism is to rethink the presentation of the lamb sausage...makes for an unappetizing look."

  • "Ripple really goes above and beyond with everything, and not in an in your face obnoxious kind of way. The food is fantastic, crisp, fresh ingredients and light delicious flavors. We ordered everything that our server Matt recomended and he didn't steer us wrong. House made spaghetti, rockfish, scallops, and butterscotch pudding were all perfect. Also, recomended a perfect wine to go with our meal and our fit our price range. Thank you Ripple for making our anniversary dinner perfect. They even put a little note on our menu for us!"

  • "We live in DC and Ripple is a delight and one of our favorite restaurants. Ripple's foods are locally sourced, has great service, is reasonably quiet and has a great wine selection (including several wines under $30). We had the kohlrabi tortellini stuffed with felsa yahr cheese, seared scallops, and the cheese platter that included special cheeses that we do not normally see in restaurant (our favorite was ossau irati and pleasant ridge reserve). The price per person with tip was $50 per person. We will happily return!"

  • "Ripple provided excellent service and a variety of very tasty dishes for our party of three. We had limited time before heading to a movie across the street, but were able to enjoy three courses and wine and make the show with a few minutes to spare. The halibut was a standout that evening, along with a miniature blueberry pie dessert."

  • "Dined at Ripple with my girlfriend for our 1st date anniversary (this is also was where we had our first date). We appreciated them accommodating our request to sit at the same table as our first visit. The service was great- very attentive and friendly. We stuck with cocktails of which they had a very good selection and were prepared very well. We also stayed with appetizers and the meat and cheese platters, all of which were delicious. However, after we considered their entrees for some time, we both came to the realization that while the food at Ripple is no doubt top notch, the menu for whatever reason just doesn't 'pop'. Just a matter of taste and preference. That said, I would recommend it for a drinks and tapas dining experience."

  • "At nights it may be hard to find parking but i think this neighborhood gem is worth it. The charcuterrie plate with house made mustard was fantastic. I also got the pasta which was housemade. It tasted great, only wished they rolled the gnocchi on a fork to have both the texture and ability for the sauce to stick better. Steak was done well. A bit busy with the other stuff on the plate and a tad bit salty. Overall I still cleaned that entire plate. Nice meal. Will definitely go back."

  • "Marjorie Meek-Bradley creates culinary perfection in her daily dishes at Ripple. The food is outstanding and gets better each time we visit. The wine list and cocktails are stellar - general manager Danny Fisher knows the wineries and handpicks selections, greeting us every time with a smile and a welcome back hug. The staff are knowledgable about the dishes, the drinks and anticipate needs before you're even aware you have any. This is our go-to weekday neighborhood spot, our wedding rehearsal spot, and our special dinner spot."
